A survival guide to the austin soup-air (with zero milk tax)

Dear Diary,

It’s late June in Austin, which means the air outside has officially turned into warm, humid soup. If you are currently melting into the pavement on Chicon Street or just trying to find a corner of the universe where the AC actually works, we see you.

More importantly: we have cold liquids.

You already know our whole deal, but since the sun is actively trying to destroy us all right now, we figured it was a good time to remind you how to survive the summer here without losing your mind or your entire paycheck.

1. The "Vegan Tax" Remains Canceled

If you go to a regular specialty shop and order an iced latte with oat milk or pistachio milk because cows are friends, they usually hit you with a $1.25 up-charge. We still think that sucks.

Every single alternative milk and house-made syrup we spin up is built right into the base price. If you want an icy, creamy, plant-based caffeine delivery vehicle to get you through a 95-degree morning, you aren't getting penalized for it here.

2. No Tax. No Tip. No Surprise Math.

When you’re experiencing mild heatstroke, the last thing you want to do is perform basic arithmetic at a cash register.

The price you see on our menu board is the exact amount that leaves your bank account. We build taxes and living wages directly into the cost of making pretty sugar-milk so our incredible team gets paid predictably and fairly. You just grab your iced drink, find a cozy corner, and stop sweating.

3. What We Are Drinking Today to Stay Alive

If you’re walking in today to escape the sun, skip the hot drip and ask our baristas for one of these:

  • Iced Matcha Latte: Whisked up with creamy oat milk. It’s sustained, peaceful energy without the chaotic coffee jitters.

  • Our Actual Cold Brew: Smooth, low-acid, chocolatey, and served over a mountain of ice.

  • Scratch-Made Seasonal Stuff: Ask what wild, hyper-local ingredients we’re boiling down into syrups this week. (Spoiler: it’s always vibrant, floral, and deeply refreshing).

Our space is explicitly built for the artsy, creative, queer, and plant-based folks who just need a peaceful third space to camp out, sketch, write a zine, or stare blankly into the middle distance.

We’re open 7 AM to 2 PM every single day. Come get your morning frost fix before the afternoon really starts baking.

Stay cool out there.
